Positive: Sophie is a lovely person and so kind. Our satnav got us lost in the village but she came out to find us! The ground floor of the gite is beautiful. It is clean, comfortable and well equipped. Very quiet at night. Very good wifi. The location is excellent, close to all the amenities of Cognac but in a lovely rural location with very pleasant walks through the vineyards and pretty villages nearby.
Negative: Older people (like us) who need to get out of bed in the night need to be aware that it is quite a trek to the WC. You also have to be VERY careful of the very low beams in the bedroom. Some of the equipment needs to be checked; there were 2 mugs with broken handles and the glasses are a very mis-matched bunch. There is no bread knife, I was trying to cut up crusty baguettes with a blunt steak knife! Also, the cooking knives are just jumbled up in a drawer with all the other utensils. This isn't good from a health & safety point of view. Sharp knives should be separate, preferably on a rack so they can be seen. Other than that everything is very good.
